Yorkshire Rock Art

New Discoveries of Rock Art Sites on the Pennine Fringe.             By T.C. Laurie

A significant group of rock art sites has recently been recognised on private Land within an area not previously known to possess rock art.

Rock surfaces with cups, enclosures, cups and grooved enclosures and a single concentric ring figure are currently being recorded.

Tim Laurie's ongoing research into the history and prehistory of the Yorkshire Dales region is to be applauded ( his work on Burnt mounds in the dales is of particular interest).
The exact location of these recently discovered rock art sites cannot be disclosed at the present time at the request of the land owners, but these sample photographs illustrate the calibre of rock art that is turning up and also proves that interesting new sites are still out there waiting to be discovered.

See here for details of Tim Laurie's previous work on the rock art in the region.
